Introducing

MISSION

The mission of the YORK Center For Middle East and International Studies (YCIS) is to launch and coordinate a variety of research, and outreach activities to explore the history, arts, society, environment, new technology, philosophy, and politics related to Iran and those regions historically influenced by the Persian language and culture in the Middle East and Central Asia. The activities of the Center include conferences, publications, and workshops.

Research subjects, outside the Asian and Middle Eastern regions, may also be considered within the research area of the Centre.

OBJECTIVES

The Center promotes conferences, research projects, and publications by Iranians and international scholars about Iran and regions historically influenced by the Persian language and culture in the Middle East and Central Asia.

The Center also serves as the focal point for public discussion and disseminating knowledge about Iran. Publications are reserved for scholars, however, workshops and discussion sessions are, for most of the time, open to all public, including University and College students.

Currently, the Center has no transferable credits to offer to the interested person.
